I run 2 servers with MetaMod:Source and Mani Admin (loaded via VPF). The
server ran fine with just MM:S and a custom plug-in. I got Mani running
again by updating the gametypes.txt file per their site - there is a link on
their home page.

I recently had my ISP host open these ports in the firewall after a firewall
reset:
1200 UDP
27000-27020 UDP
27024-27050 TCP
These are all in-bound.
I also use 123 for NTP plus the usual ones for ssh and http.
Hope that helps

No answer to this?
I have the same problem - listed on 7/1: [hlds_linux] latest CS:S update -
segfaults using ./steam
---
After deleting any ~/.steam directories, run:
Srcds wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
--17:32:09--
-You can get cron to run a script that you have in the srcds directory. I
use screen and my script (stop_css) looks like this:
/usr/bin/screen -r css -X quit
-On cron, I run this script at 5 AM everyday:
0 5 * * * /etc/rc.d/css stop
-The css file looks like this:
#! /bin/sh
#
# /etc/rc.d/css
My server runs an old version of Linux - Suse 9.0, kernel v2.4.21, 64 bit
mode, circa 2004.
The latest HLDS update tool gets the corresponding steam program (v39) and
it only segfaults.
I have been able to run prior to this but have not updated in a while (36
maybe).
I tried all the tricks about
You need to specify a map:

Anybody has the old files still running?
I need:
\engine_i486.so
\engine_i686.so
\steamclient_i486.so
\tier0_s_i486.so
\vstdlib_s_i486.so
I haven't updated yet and the files I have I saved over to a web directory:
-rw-r--r--1 gibkeusers 2709760 2005-11-03 06:15 engine_amd.so
The sysadmin would still have to initiate the bash script since he can
access the games user.
I use a stop_css script on my server that looks like this:
/usr/bin/screen -r css -X quit
css is the name assigned to the screen instance. This causes the server
program to exit gracefully but also
I recommend HalfD for non-Source servers. While it appears that

I feel like I'm missing something simple and stupid. I install

via steam, it installs in the normal manner. I change *nothing*. I run:

and it works fine. I run:
/hlds_run -game gearbox
and I get:

Halfd relies on the hlds_run script, which is not available in source

until that's done, it's not compatible.
Actually, halfd bypasses the hlds_run script (there is
Folks:
Does halfd (http://www.halfd.org) work with CS:S? If it did then it would
be a simple matter of putting %n and any clan tags you wish in the first
section of halfd.exclude. Result: insta-ban.

I gave it a try during CSS:Beta but it had some major problems
Alfred,
We are getting less and less players on our servers by the day, we used to
run 8 servers now we run 4 and may lose 2 of these by the end of the week
as
they are not getting used.
Can we expect a release shortly ?

The only HL mod that runs in full 64-bit mode is Counter-Strike - none of
the others have the 64-bit shared object (SO).
I have been running a 64-bit CS 1.6 server for well over a month (and a
test version before that) once 64-bit AdminMod and StatsMe were available.

How did you edit that file(hlds_run), Would it be possible for you to

nobody int he forums knows how to do it, and I've heard others ask how
to skip over the auto-detect as well. thanks so much, this would

There is nothing wrong with the file permissions. This user had
ownership over all the file, and also rwx permission. It stills crashes.
