i'm not worrying about servers, i'm worrying about people who post the
URL in forums so other gamers can download that stuff with a web browser.
Ah.. there is another option. You just rip out all the entities from your
downloadurl maps with an editor like EntEd. Since servers send all entities
In that case it'd be a wise idea to only allow requests with the server IP
referrer AND no referrer at all. (Since it's impossible for evil admins to
strip the referrer, only people with a stripped referrer would be able to
download stuff, the other 90% would be unable to.)
Although some
First all GSPs leech the entire developing community. I had a chat with an
insider in the developing world and it turns out he gets practically no
donations for a widely used plugin he made. Then the GSPs are using
knowledge shared by enthusiastic users on the lists and forums. If they
wouldn't
Here is the scenerio:
A map has 40 Spawnpoints.
A server has 50 player slots.
This will lead to an error to 10 players that want to enter the game, due to
the map not having enough spawnpoints.
Here is the idea:
Spawn all the players that can be spawned. As soon as there are no
spawnpoints left
On the one hand it's a shame Clanservers is actually promoting and accepting
cracked software. On the other hand, I'm sure there are alot people with
Dedicated Servers who run this too, but EV1Servers (Example) doesn't get
bashed for it.
If I was the CEO of Clanservers I'd warn the persons with
This update re-releases the Counter-Strike: Source changes from Thursday
(while keeping the in game menu enable, for now).
Thanks for giving the devs some space to breath. We all know that you don't
agree with it nor approve the methods used, yet you decided to overrule your
personal opinion
So, this brings us to our next point of the discussion. Since VALVe promised
to offer the plugin developers full assistence, I am wondering the
following:
When will the fancy menu's be added to the official API?

Well, lets just see, this is not a gripe it's just a little list and
TINAEL:
Well they did have the time to block it, so apparently it has a priority for
them ;)
For the people who consider this discussion is filled with whiners:
We all know the saying If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It wasn't
Trust me guys, VALVe will revert it. They have to, or nobody will take them
serious anymore.
First the admins started complaining their plugins doesnt work. Then the
coders started complaining (HLCoders). Now even the players are complaining
(See Steam forums).
I dont even have to link it, but its
I admit my previous posts were a bit too whiney and even offensive at some
points, so ill try again.
A fact is that VALVe does this all to maintain control. There is a big
chance plugins like NeoTF and WC3 are simply impossible because VALVe does
not like them. We are forced to use a menu that
Maybe it's a good idea to start up a Steam Beta Program. People can apply
for the program on the website (and also turn it off there). If someone has
enabled it Steam will automatically download the beta updates.
This has a few benefits;
1) Only motivated people who want to Beta test sign up for
therefore, Id
like to ask the VALVe side of this weird story.
Cheers,
Frash

They should just listen to the community and remove the CD check and let it
rely on the key. I mean it doesnt matter anyways, its already pirated. Also it
would be a good idea to de-symlink [EMAIL
ISOs and emulating the DVD,
just because they dont like their CD player being occupied. The difference
is just too big with Steam subscribers that can click and play.
Best regards,
Frash.

jolly lot, they wait till the server is full for best effect.
[Offtopic] Hey whats up Cunni :D
Anyways, I think VALVe will come out with a fix soon, the only reason why
they wouldnt have released it yet is to bundle it with some other
fixes/additions :)
I agree with Pritt, this list shouldnt become a marketplace. If you want to
discuss about this this badly mail the GameCP guy, I am sure he is willing
to provide you the answers but for christ sake keep it clean here.

Well you guys think shell is that much of a waste but imagine being like me.
I have a 15KB/Sec upload. I cannot run a server.
If I have to upload everything with FTP, eg a mappack of a few hundred MB's
I got to let my PC on for days to upload that. With SSH I could simply do a
wget and the servers

Would it be possible to mark vehichle kills different than normal kills?
Alot people on our server TK eachother using vehichles and our Anti TK plugin
doesnt punish them. If VALVe adds the different
For the server update I'd like to request 2 things:
1) A referer: header containing the server IP address, professional
webmasters can grant access to files by referer
(More important than you think, other servers can get your bandwidth down by
leeching/sniffing the downloadurl)
2) A fully working
Wouldn't it seem more logical to fix bugs/important things first?
I don't see how adding a survey it more important than bugs .. I guess
valve
likes to do everything the opposite way..
Erh I love the way Steam is at the moment, the anti-cheat feature could be
better
but for the rest I really
Nope, again in a week or so.
Great, would it be possible to add a Referer header with the server IP to
the Half-Life HTTP protocol?
(This allows Admins to grant access to specific server IPs to download
resources)

I don't think this is all that funny.
VALVe succeeded in having a secure online play system (Won) for 6 years,
Im sure you guys find a way to force them to buy the normal version.
Anyways I might have an interesting feature suggestion about the downloading
