Yesterday I've seen this message on HLDS Mailing list, and decided to find
out how this exploit was done. Someone told me it was a file to modify. I
searched a bit and found that you could change class and a few things in
items.ctx, and I knew that .ctx files can work also client side (see
Too bad you can still do the edits for the .ctx files in DoD Source
(which give for example 0 recoil) and get away with it since pure does
not check scripts where the ctx files are located. Valve should take a
look at the situation there too.

I don't think these stats track weapon used. The client updates the
server with its own stats (which is what tracks your
kills/points/max-ubers and everything else). But more importantly,
weapons are all in steam cloud, so they can see who was using what
loadouts. The bugged loadout configs were
