Seems like most of the books I have seen about the horn (Morley~Pegge, Robin
Gregory,etc) came out after 1957. This may be due to Dennis Brain's life.
I know there are others out there. can you suggest some horn books, not

I just dug a double horn out of the depths of my storage, it seems to be a
1941 silver plated double horn. The #2 valve is marked H N White and then
the serial number but above that, after the serial number, is stamped "L 2".
Anyone know what the "L2" is about?

Is it Maxtone? Is that the name? Anyway I was shocked to find a very nice
looking Maxtone silver double horn for sale in a local pawnshop. The finish
was just perfect and there was not a dent on the instrument. On closer
inspection it looked like it had not been used for more than 5 minutes
total mystery to me.

Any of you use a solid nickel silver mouthpiece? I have one and it makes
life a little easier, there is no plating to wear. It might have a little
more frictional "cling" to it than a plated mouthpiece but not enough to

Ken Pope kindly shared his hints for spotting a scammer. I would like to
add one:
If the first contact is about HOW they are going to pay you something is
fishy. People don't commit themselves so quickly in real life. If they do,
then they will want to know how soon they can get the instrument,
Prof. Pizka, if your out there I imagine that the title of this post has
your attention.
Does anyone know if Gottfried von Freiberg recorded the Brahms' trio in or
about 1949. I had the recording years ago (if it was him) and it was by far
the most memorable recording of that work I have heard.

There is a silver 6D on ebay... it is a featured item and shows up at the
top of the page. For years I have been looking for a solid nickel silver
6D... they made a few. I asked the seller if it the horn was plated or
solid nickel, he says its nickel. Understand that I can't tell what it is
made
