Wow, almost 100,000 wards, 50,000 states boundaries, +400,000 residential
areas and last but not least +1,000 health facilities!
Would it not be the largest import ever made in OSM in a developing
country? Does someone have other examples to share?
Sincerely,
Severin

As mentioned, I create the OSM lists, so I hope these neutral
observations help the discussion:
Yes, indeed the OSM list system works in as loose and free-wheeling
manner as possible along the support-but-not-control mission of the
OSMF. So unless I can think of a really strong reason, I

This is exactly what comes to my mind observing this discussion...I
would much prefer to see the HOT board being supportive rather than
trying to be controlling.

Dear Michael, all,
Typing this quickly as the day is going badly for me...
It's my opinion that the creation of HOT mailing lists require more
community input than was shown in this instance; whilst I know that we need
to be doing more to work in more languages than English, I am not convinced

Hi Fran,
Sorry, I'm going to jump in about non-profit law in the US and people are
probably going to run off to go to sleep.

Hi,
I have always assumed this list to be for people using OSM in a
humanitarian context and not that much as a something that is HOT Inc.
There are many things happening with OSM in the 'humanitarian' space that
are in no way HOT Inc-related and as interest in this area is growing this

Hi all,
*HOT leverages the OSM brand, which is an Open Community*
*So HOT is logically the Open Community to do with Humanitarian*
Of course, however, OpenStreetMap doesn't just say do what you like with
it, even if they have been very generous with the use of their name. This

Hi Ben,
There is a lot to think about with regards to these issues. OpenStreetMap
is trademarked, by the OpenStreetMap Foundation there are just very liberal
guidelines for the use of the trademark. The example most often given is if
someone made a paid mobile app they could not make it look like
Hi Mark,
I contacted someone I know from WFP so that he can tell me who whould be
the good persons for this. I introduce you as soon as I get an answer.
I agree, this is the kind of forgotten crisis. But at least we did
something, we are the only Virtual Technical Community that did I think.
Hey All, I live in an environment where there are German, Swiss, French,
Aussie, Us, Britts, Belgian, US speakers (to name a few).
One of the simple things I have learnt is that to communicate, someone has
to translate. And that is no simple task .. I speak Aussie .and I am
lucky that folks

+1 a real concern for me (not hearing what is happening on other lists).

As for the OSM talk lists: when a topic needs to be shared/discussed with
everyone, it goes to the general talk list. But if only the general talk
list would exist, there would be really less exchanges in total, so
basically having sub lists allows both everyone to participate and more

Hi everyone
Back in February 2010, I sent Mike Collinson an email to set up this list.

We have a need for a list just focused on Humanitarian OSM Team ... can you
set that up?
hot@openstreetmap.org is what we're thinking.
Thanks

Hi, Séverin:
The real numbers in terms of wards, LGA's and residential areas for
these imports are actually more modest (the numbers I had were OSM
objects (nodes, ways and relations). I've upgraded the wiki [1] with
the numbers of total wards

Hi, Kate:
I have never used Loomio before. I think a good way would be, for
example, to use one of the ongoing discussions where we have to reach
some decisions and use Loomio to see how it goes (pros and cons).

Hola a todos, escribo en español por ahora y dentro de poco mando la
