Hello List,
Last week we have seen an IPL that did not go the way I'd expected. It
went OK, so VM is running, but it doesn't feel right.
In the past our IPL procedures were:
- Connect a terminal session to a console (let's say device 820)
- load the LPAR on HMC with loadparm 820.
- On the
There had to be a configuration change between the old machine and the
z9. VM won't behave that differently just because of different hardware.

uhm, which support center? UDB or VM?
z/VM, though before you do that, collect the VMNFS server traces. See the
TCP/IP Diagnosis book for information. (They'll have you do that anyway.)
It may allow you to figure out for
by any chance did SYSTEM CONFIG have changes to AUTO_WARM_IPL and other such
parms?
Is loadparm being specified on the new hmc?

I made some dynamic changes to my z/VM IO. Basically deleting and redefining
some tape drives on a different chpid.
My question is: 'Is there a way to print the new configuration?'

If you're using HCD take a look at 2 (Activate...) then 3 (Build

Configuration then Export or Print accordingly. I believe this is also
possible with the IOCP command, but I am not familiar with that method.

I don't seem to get this to work.

Kris,
The VM is z/VM 5.2 RSU 601.
I can test it with one LPAR that still needs to be IPLled. We have cloned
some VM's so apart from some small local tailoring (like nodeID and TCPIP
configs) the VM's are identical. Let's play around a little bit. Either a

guest or native.

The dragdrop is simply the way to give an LPAR an integrated 3270
console. It does not instruct SAPL to display/bypass its panel.
The display of the SAPL panel is requested by entering the address of a 3270
in the LOADPARM field (enter SYSG to indicate the integrated 3207 console)
