Hi Daniel,
The WWPN listed in your Q FCP outputs and that from the SCSIDISC tool are
similar enough that I suspect they are different subchannels on the same
FCP card, and not of your target DASD subsystem. Are there other WWPNs
listed in the SCSIDISC output beyond what you have sent? If so,
Are you able to change the origin user ID within the spool file

Hello Scott,
That is what I was missing. The TRKFMT will work in the DS6800 too
(1750) .
You must have the required CYLRANGE parameter: specify a range of
cylinders and ERASEDATA with (IIRC) Cycles of 3 or more.
Would someone please verify this?

I doubt that your tape operator needs Class A. Here, that function only has
BDG. I am not sure why it has D. It is probably historical from the time when
there were co-located printers and tape drives. I suspect that BG would be
sufficient.

If you are using ICKDSF, you can use TRKFMT function with the CYCLES and
ERASEDATA to do multiple passes.

Hello Everyone,
I would suggest the ICKDSF REVAL or INSTALL for real DASD (not supported
on the 1750 - DS6800).
Seems to me that ICKDSF INIT with purge and some other parameters would
do what you want.
Or reformat the Ds6800 using the Storage Manager software.

I would never recommend giving a tape operator class A.. besides FORCE --
they can SHUTDOWN the system .. also XAUTOLOG users.I can't think of any
class A commands offhand that I would want a tape operator to have access
to.

On the VM downloads page, check out this package
http://www.vm.ibm.com/download/packages/descript.cgi?CMDTABLE
It will generate a file listing all the commands and their priv class.
You can find all of the Class A commands in that file. Be aware,
though, that some commands have multiple priv clas
What I had done, in the past, was to write a "FORCE EXEC" that would control
usage (or prompt for confirmation).
Sure it could be bypassed by a simple #CP FORCE, but it would catch the casual
use of FORCE.

Greetings,
Yesterday afternoon we had one of our tape operators accidently FORCE off a VSE
machine. We noticed he had Class A in his directory.
If we remove class A what CP commands will he now be unable to perform? Is
there a list of CP Class A commands somewhere?
Thanks,
Mike
Depends upon which type of DASD you have. If you're using a SAN, use
the SAN's manager tools to reformat the DASD, 3 passes will do. Or, you
can have IBM come in and scrub it for you. Your regular customer
engineer can perform the reformatting at the SAN level for you. If you
truly require DoD-

Hi Folks,
Haven't been on here in a while. I have missed you guys ;)
MIT will finally be shutting down it's zVM systems that have been running
remotely at Blue Hill Data's datecenter for the past couple of years. I
am looking into what I'll need to do to do a reasonably thorough DASD
