Did you mean the SET VSWITCH command to change the rdev? I don't see a
MODIFY VSWITCH command in the book, but I'm not so good at finding the
right commands.
SET VSWITCH VSWITCH1 RDEV 2708 1E08
Assuming the results are what I want, then
SET VSWITCH VSWITCH1 RDEV 2708
to remove the old

Yeah, sorry. SET VSWITCH. I always have to look that stuff up
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
I have the new OSA rdev added to vswitch1, not a hiccup (altho the old on

So you are saying you suspended your PPRC and then did a failover test .
What does that mean? You IPL'd off the PPRC secondaries (that were now broken
mirror? ) or you flashed the whole thing so something else? Or is it the
primary copy that is corrupted?

Where there are many reasons why you might want a second IP stack, if the only
reason is to have a back door TN3270 session, then try using the ICC port. (An
OSA port configured for ICC.) These are always up and you can TN3270 into
them, get a VM logo (in the VM world), and fix what ever

Dear Friends,
I am considering replacing a 1 TB 2105-800 shark with a 1TB DS6800. Does anyone
have experience with such an upgrade? Any warnings, tips or comments?

Alan, people using the VM:Operator software have it normally installed in
the System Operator, so it is started before RACF comes up. He,ce it is
indeed tempting to use a RACF message to start automated startup using
VM:Operator scripts.

On Monday,
An OSA ICC is great, but costs real money: the price of that OSA card, it
will be dedicated to its OSA ICC function.
An other backdoor, that costs you nothing, is using the Integrated 3270
Console, found on the HMC. And if you setup remote access to the HMC, you
can use it from anywhere (like I
