Thanks, Alan Maybe what I'm attempting can't be done without bouncing TCPIP or IPL'ing the system. I got this error: set vswitch vswitch1 disconnect Command complete Ready; HCPSWU2830I VSWITCH SYSTEM VSWITCH1 status is disconnected requiring operator intervention. set vswitch vswitch1 rdev 27

I'm missing something about the CONTROLLER. When I tried to remove the o ld OSA from VSWITCH1, I got this error set vswitch vswitch1 rdev 2708 HCPSWU2830I VSWITCH SYSTEM VSWITCH1 status is ready. HCPSWU2830I DTCVSW2 is VSWITCH controller for device 1E0

Did you mean the SET VSWITCH command to change the rdev? I don't see a MODIFY VSWITCH command in the book, but I'm not so good at finding the right commands. SET VSWITCH VSWITCH1 RDEV 2708 1E08 Assuming the results are what I want, then SET VSWITCH VSWITCH1 RDEV 2708 to remove the old OSA

We recently added two 10Gb OSA cards to our Z9 to replace our old 1Gb cards. I'm trying to figure out how to convert from the old cards to the new (zVM 5.4), while having an easy backout method. SYSTEM CONFIG has these statements DEFINE VSWITCH VSWITCH1 RDEV 1E08 CONN CONTROLLER * DEFINE VSW
