lives. As many of you know, I picked her up from Karen yesterday and
brought her home to Maryland. She and Svort will be moving to my home in

I think you're going to have a lot of fun with her. What she lacks in past
training, she makes up for in curiosity and desire to be with people. You
still have some work to do with her, but s

This little girl seems to have a natural way with horses. Cali was ok with
her sister and her dad, but she really liked the little girl. You can see
some wariness in her eyes a few times, but not enough to make her leave
them. She'd never met any of these people before. She was the first ho

BTW, that's War Paint on her face under Cali's eyes, for bug control.
Someone in the pasture won't leave her fly mask on. I can't imagine which

Cali had her feet done today (along with Hroi, Buttercup, and 14 others
here). Here are three rather boring (hooray - my favorite kind) videos of
her having them done. I think the more the farrier is around Icelandic's,
the more he likes them. He's a lifelong "QH person" but he does all breed
Skjoni seemed a tad off the last time I rode him, but he's seemed fine
since. Cary hadn't ridden him since that time, so I thought it might be
good for me to see if he felt off in any way before Cary took him trail
riding. He seemed fine, so they soon went on the trail. As a side benefit,

The main addition today was weight on her back, and a leg thrown across her
back.

make sure you clip her underarm hair where the girth goes Karen. Most
horses dont react so much but teev pure hates it when the girth pulls
these hairs, and if he reacts, then maybe some stoic horses out there
are just gritting their teeth and bearing it or acting out in another
way, balky etc. M

One more uneventful session, one step at a time. Today she got the surcingle
buckled - not TOO tight, but certainly not loose. She turned her loose to
graze
for a few minutes so she could feel the girth tighten
she sure doesnt look freaked out about anything does she?!

certainly fine with me
At first, Cali would act started when someone suddenly "got tall" by stepping
up
on a stool, but she's getting better. Since we'll use a mounting block
eventually, today, she just groomed her from the mounting block, and used it
casually for a couple of things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Karen, nice job. That would be a good video for the on-line show; what do
you think?
Thanks, Judy - it's certainly fine with me, if it's ok with Jacki. I'll make
sure it's ok with Shirley.

Before she will try to use a surcingle or put a girth around her, she uses a
leadline to simulate the feeling around her middle. If the horse isn't
comfortable with the feeling, she can release the pressure
I dont see how there could be a better trainer than Shirley, not just
watching her work around horses, her gentleness and sensitivity, the
way she almost mind reads them, but I have benefitted as an owner by
her working with Teev! He is so responsive and well behaved under
saddle! In his sidepull
Here are some pictures of Cali's first session aiming towards beginning her
saddle training. You can see the peanut gallery (Isak, Landi and Trausti)
being rowdy in the background, but she wasn't fazed. There's also a picture
