That indicates that no bootable system can be found. Perhaps your
hard drive has died, perhaps it has been corrupted, or perhaps the
drive
That sounds like a possible HDD error. Can you boot from your original
iMac DVD?

tray-loading Imac 233/233/333mz machine, is zap the PRAM.?

I tried this procedure on my Quadra 610 and it briefly worked. I got the
smiling mac face and the hard drive was working and then the screen went
blank and then it came on again with a question mark in the symbol of a
floppy disk.
I also tried it on my iMac but it didn't do anything.
