I've been looking at the bubbles for a week or so now. They are growing

I am posting this message from the 0805rc2a.iso LiveCD. The fonts in FF@ are

There were a couple of either warnings or error messages during the initial

I did a clean install of 2008.05 rc2a with no problems. Following your

It is definitely noticeable. Are there improvements to the LZMA algorithm
expected? The related bug in Bugzilla suggested something like this.

AFAIK, the problem really lies in the fact that none of the packages you could

seems to have sys/mac.h and associated files. That's why you can't compile the

As I mentioned in my earlier reply, based on the MD5 checksum that

version. Are you s

The new Device Detection Utility which appears on the desktop on the
live CD (and is otherwise available from the System/Administration
menu) can be used to submit such information.

Yes, you can upgrade from Preview 2 but it requires a bit of manual
intervention. We'll be posting upgrade instructions soon once they're
finalized.

Hello there,
I'm assuming that after the first "stable/production" release of
"OpenSolaris" (05/05/08), the system will be like Debian/Ubuntu.. i
mean, users will not have to reinstall the system anymore, just
"apt-get update" and "upgrade". Am i right?

Ok, thanks for the answer... but... what about the release planned for
05/05? That release will have the support for upgrade to the next
release? Or that feature is not supposed to be included in that
version yet?
ps.: I'm talking about the upgrade for the whole system (user/kerne land).
thanks
It grows on you...just isn't very inspiring.

I just installed Indiana RC2a, based on NV86 on a Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi AMD64
laptop.
I get this message after installing on first boot:
kcf: [ID 415456 kern.warning] WARNING:
No randomness provider enabled for /dev/random. Use cryptoadm(1M) to enable
provider.
The system seems to work OK, but
Also, it took a very long time to log out and re-log in (at least 3~4 minutes).
I thought this was an aberration in DP2, but this problem is carried over to
rc2.
Furthermore, what happened to the "Desktop"? It disappeared?! Feels very
strange.

Oops, it should be the "Desktop background" that seems to have disappeared.

You mean after an upgrade? Yes, go to the appearance preferences and
pick a new one.

I'm told the message is harmless and is fixed in NV88.
It's a race condition between ZFS boot and swrand module loading.
The fix was to make swrand a dependency for ZFS.

Please review the revised Getting Started information about

Hi
I just tried out Indiana RC2a image. Overall installation experience
and 'fonts' look very smooth. Even the boot up time seem to have
improved compared to Developer Preview 2. Good going. Kudos to the
engineering team. However, I was surprised to see 'nwam' gui - for
network configuration
I'm not sure what Sun's going to consider "massive feedback", but the best I've
heard about that logo is "meh, I guess it's not too hideous"
