Anyone know what a sTEP grant is. I received an e-mail saying that I
had been approved and I do not remember applying. Am I that good that
I can apply and be awarded grants in my sleep?

I have been asked by our superintedent to find out what other schools do
in the following hypothetical situations.
1. A teacher has been employed by the state outside of their regular
school contract to develop curriculum for the state. The teacher
encounters a software issue while developing
We have been told by our Administration that we do not have to work on
those personal issues. Conversations in passing are up to us, depending
on the time we have available.
We have had our staff bring in personal laptops to use in our ICN room,
and we do not provide network connectivity to
We have an issue with the staff at another school calling our tech
people for help with issues. How do you handle that one?

Do all schools send out massive amounts of bulk email? Our district
sends out as much junk mail as a spammer does. Is there a better
solution. 2 -3 secretaries at a time will be bulk mailing to hundreds
of parents at a time and wondering why there are delays in mail delivery
to these people.
Powerschool allows parent access to student information and probably
receives about as much attention as anything sent home does.

I'm kind of with Kurt on this. My school doesn't have a formal policy about
this, and my admins and I feel it's a good thing to help the staff/community
when we can, so I do provide some tech support to teachers, parents, local
churches, daycare, etc. We just make it clear that it may have to
And you do that all free of charge? I am not talking about hey, you
could try this... but actually fixing issue?

Any district mail goes out from the district site in JMC so we are
not duplicating. Each building does send home their own newsletters,
alerts of grading periods endingetc. Lunch balances are done once a
week here I believe. (again, from the district app).
Daily assignments are kept in
No formal policy that I am aware of exists here . . . in those two
hypothetical situations given, I would probably assist with that.
During the day, or after hours without compensation. I, too, have
assisted churches and businesses and even some local people at times
