KGO is heard here 24/7 nearly 365 days a year as well as KCBS, KNBR, and
KFAX.
The Bay area stations boom into Bill Block's QTH in Prescott Valley all
day in the Winter too.
I hope you can do a daytime bandscan once you get the time. It will
be interesting to see the difference betw
Sunday night while listening to Bill Wattenburg on KGO radio, he mentioned that
KGO is sometimes heard in the daytime in San Diego, CA. Seems possible with
the
signal traveling the water path to San Diego.

You've been misinformed about KGO. They aren't going away. Still #1 in
the Bay Area.
KGO never carried Coast to Coast (as long as I can remember). It's on
KSFO-560.

later a shut down which lasted about 15 minutes and heard female voice sounding
like a sports caster so I looked in the log and suspected it would be WHB
Kansas City Mo which was still audible after SF came back on before
WGY and WHB were there plus some SS station with pips to 0400 EDT, the
LOUD KGO returned. Nothing new logged.

Noted here too. The only way I can keep 800/820 totally IBOC free, is to
leave my phase in line giving me S9+20 on CKOR-800 and S9+ on KGNW-820,

Why KGO & KFBK have shut off the night IBOC comes from ABC. Complaints I
am sure, as KGO's hash wiped out KPDQ-800 & KGNW-820 and KFBK wiped out

Their 500w gets out very well. I can get CKOR well with phasing out KGO.

me a N/NW lobe, killing most everything from the South/SE. Then

Whatever it is, it is being generated by their IBOC signal. They all
seem to have it or at least most do. I noticed it on KFBK, KGO, and even
KEX at night. It has something to do with the skip signal I would guess.
Any fading it sounds like a hiss fraightrain behind the signal. Really
awful

lot of their night audience if they keep the HD at night. I had to
adjust the tone control on my Super Radio to mask the hiss. I can live
with it, but it is there and I doubt John Q Public will put up with it.

Bay Area on 580 in the Pleasanton-Livermore area, KGO was pretty much
unlistenable as far as the audio quality goes...something about their pattern
which I never bothered to figure out. I doubt that IBOC would impro

By the way, my complaint with KGO's IBOC is not related to their
sideband splash, but to listening to them period with their co channel
hash. For the record, the hash on each side pretty well knocked out
everything on 800 & 820. I just wonder if KPDQ or KGNW knows about it?

I have KGO with S-9 +35 db at 7:24 A.M. PST. Underneath I can hear
KTBI. That was with the High Performance Active Whip. With the fence antenna
KTBI is S-9 +-20 db. At 7:28 A.M. PST KTBI dominates on all antennas. With
the KIWA loop KGO is S-9 +20 db. Not hearing a chain saw noise t
Pat, can you get an audio clip of that chainsaw sound?
Maybe you can send a polite note to KGO telling them what you are
hearing...

fantastic shot of the KGO site. What a beautiful shot. I would have
bought the calendar for that pix alone. No wonder I hear them up here at
nearly 600 miles during the day!

I have been a fan of KGO for many years, since the days of Les Crane at
the Hungry Eye in the 60s. My favorite is Burnie Ward followed by Kerel,
and then Ray Tal. But I don't care for Ray's talk on religion very much
either. Being a Christian, making fun of God rubs me the wrong way.
I used to listen to him, but I got bored. As I mentioned on another thread, he
was talking about chess one night, and it devolved into a discussion on race
relations for no better reason than chess pieces are black or white. The only
time I got a real good laugh was the night he referred to Go

Sometimes I listen to Ray Taliaferro just for comic relief. That guy
gets way out of control and I laugh because he is so left and on
occasion a conservative thinks they can get a point in on his show.
