You're only 1000 miles away from the DX... On the west coast, we are shooting
for stuff that is 4-6 times the distance and 1/10th the power.
Or in other words: why am I not there!? :-)

Well if it's any consolation, Gary, we're doing very well, thank you, with
Europe and Africa today in PEI! 73,...Walt

Several Asian big guns came back with audio this morning but conditions still
were far from desirable. As Richard, Steve and Craig have reported 1566-HLAZ
was the main performer (and the strongest of the bunch here as well), with good
audio peaks in and out from 1330-1415. The Japanese and

Does anyone out west ever TAKE ADVANTAGE of auroral conditions and aim antennas
for Latin America?
Or is it mostly gloom-and-doom since only Tahiti 738 registers in
Mark, to be honest, I've never looked for Latins from Masset. I suspect,
though, that I'd have a really tough time with the lower 48 and BC/Alberta
to contend with before I could reach anything in Latin or South America.

Asian signals never really got out of the noise here this morning as the solar
shenanigans once again resulted in a clunker session. There were moderate
carriers on 594, 693 and 1323 around 1420 and occasional fair audio from
738-Tahiti a few minutes later, but overall the session was a lurch

Hello All,
Asian signals improved dramatically over yesterday's mediocre session, with an
exceptional signal from 594-JOAK early on around 1415. The Korean big guns on
972, 1053 and 1566 also came back from yesterday's slump, while 603-HLSA and
657-Pyongyang made fair appearances for a
Hello All,
Richard and Nigel accurately described the general drop off in Asian signal
quality this morning, even for this west coast location. The band started off
in a fairly promising state around 1300 with good audio from both the Japanese
and Korean big guns (on 594, 693, 747, 774, 828
Hello All,
Yesterday morning's superb TP conditions continued right up through the Asian
sunset period this early morning (0930-1050), but they seemed to fall off of a
cliff sometime before this morning's west coast sunrise. During the Asian
sunset many huge signals were in and out from

Just before 13:00, the band was quite alive with lots of the first tier
stations present with good audio, especially the Japanese NHK1 and NHK2
stations. 891 was also very strong, but I didn't wait around long enough

Hello All,
Against better judgement two TP-chasing sessions were conducted here
this morning, with the first from 0930-1015 during the Asian sunset, and
then from 1300-1510 during the West Coast sunrise. Both sessions had
excellent Asian propagation, even though only the barefoot SWP
