Hi Smails,
I would consider the XML Schema 1.1 implementation in Xerces-J to be complete
and stable now. The experimental phase was during the initial development and
while the W3C specification was still evolving.
Thanks.

Xerces has no implementation of XMLInputFactory (StAX) so I'm not sure
what you tested there.
Thanks.

As Jake pointed out Xerces-J 1.2.0 is ancient. It was released over 12
years ago. It's unlikely that you'll find anyone here who still uses it or
remembers how it behaves. It is more likely that someone would respond to
your questions if you were using a recent version.

Doesn't sound like you've done much research. Have you visited the
xerces.apache.org website or searched on Google? There's a lot of material
available on the web.
Thanks.

Hi Jim,
You need to add the other Xerces jars to your classpath. xercesSamples.jar
isn't enough.
You should also include xml-apis.jar using the Endorsed Standards Override
Mechanism. See the FAQ here [1].
Thanks.

Hi,
It's likely this problem [1] with the SchemaFactory. We're working on it.
Thanks.

es did support UTF-32 the UCSReader might not be the right
reader to use anyway. A compliant UTF-32 Reader might require more error
checking (e.g. to reject non-characters, like the byte sequences that
would be used to represent surrogates in UTF-16).

Hi Carlos,
Xerces-J 2.9.1 and later are archived here [1].
For future reference, look on the Xerces website [2] for download
information.
Thanks.

I agree. I would expect a SAXException thrown from an ErrorHandler (in any
context) to propagate up the stack. If this is getting swallowed somewhere
in Xerces then it's a bug.

That's true, assuming PsychoPath is being tested that way. Have never

I'm curious what kind of coverage there is for assertions in the W3C's XML
Schema 1.1 test suite. If it were enhanced to cover more scenarios like
this one and others we've been discussing on this list lately it would
help improve interoperability.
Thanks.

Hi Mukul,
Regardless of the severity I agree with Jorge that it's a pain if you
can't write an XPath expression which works with both (Xerces and Saxon)
implementations. Can this issue with the explicit cast be fixed in
PsychoPath?
Thanks.
