Have you set up a separate hot key for each of the versions of JAWS? If you haven't, then I would do that. Once done, then I would reboot the computer. Then unload JAWS 6 if that is the one that is running after the reboot. Once 6 is unloaded, then use the hot key combination to start JAWS 8.
