If you use the companion software, the number of kilobytes is listed for
each book and you can check how much room is left on the cartridge by
looking at the status line. With jaws this is insert page down. For a 1
gig cartridge, I can get 6 or 7 books on it, depending on their length.

You can do the same thing by pressing alt S. You do here the percentages as
