I was able to get this functionality by installing the rpm via yum and then running "snmpconf -g basic_setup". There is more info in the man page for snmpd.conf ("man snmpd.conf")that may assist in walking through the prompts. I am running this on an EL4 clone, so it may not be exactly the same.
