I highly reccommend using steel angle instead of the aluminum which is
called for in the manual. The reason is that the aluminum bracket can and
will fail causing you to loose your counterbalance weight. This exact this

You might check with Steve Bennett at GPASC who supplies the one piece gear
for the Sonerai aircraft. Steve used this gear on a modified KR-2 he was
building at one time in the past.
