[lace] Circular knitting

Dear Devon I suspect the original table you were recalling was in Pat Earnshaw's "Bobbin & Needle Laces - Identification and Care", which tabulates this for various laces, and includes the figure of 10,000, though not for gros point. Her figures are based on averaging counts in 1/8 inch squares,

[lace] Christmas gifts

Well, my first lace 'friend' who started making lace with me 17 years ago went to Bruges in October as a birthday treat. We first went there together in 1990 on a lace outing. For Christmas she gave me a candle from the t'Apostelientje - my favourite shop - it has a picture of a lacemaker on the si

An aficot was used in needle lace in the "finishing" process. To my knowledge there were a couple of types used. The horn aficot would have been used to "polish" the threads of the rolled cordonnets. Metal aficots looked like large nails with rounded heads, but with a blunt end, no point. They

When I design with wire, I am using either a single strand of 30/31, or a double strand of 32, or a triple strand of 33/34. I have found that the 28 and larger wires can be too thick and cumbersome for the fine lace jewelry I have created. You can see some of my work on my website. http://me
