Hi Liz!
Those ladies and their Christinas were at Lace at Sweet Briar this
year, and I am the third from the left.
The handy tool-tray you mention was an optional accessory for the
original Christinas which were made in Sweden from about 1952 on. After

Well, the chairs could be a function of size and financial situation.
I am in my fifties and I am 1.47 meters tall. (About 4' 9) Most chairs are
too tall for me and tables are too high. I own three chairs. Two are low and
fit at the dining table. When I put my cookie pillow on the table and sit

In our Lacemakers of Puget Sound Guild there have been several (over time) who
needed a foot stool and one clever husband designed a folding one that would
travel well. We have put the design in the new letter a couple of times in
the past. I don't know how many have actually been made by others.
But www.tat-man.net not yet?

Janice - don't be too sure that your bag is safe enough if the handles are
around a chair leg. Recently my sis-in-law told me that her handbag was once
stolen even though the handles were around the chair legsthe thief just
cut the handles!

You are right, that is even a possibility when you are walking with a bag of
any kind. I thought it was safe as I was in an enclosed area surrounded by a
wall made of flower boxes filled with hedges. At least I know not to hang my
bag on the back of a toilet stall after having my wallet stolen
I accompanied my husband on a trip to Argentina and Chile last week and had a
great time. The people we met in each city were so friendly and generous. In
Buenos Aires I saw very little lace. At the Recolita Cemetery where Eva
Perone was buried, I saw a Battenburg curtain behind a glass
I have the same problem as Sister Claire. I am only 4ft 10 and a half. I
manage well at home as I have an adjustable stand for my pillow but when I
go to my evening class is another thing altogether.
It is in a school and we use the desk and chairs. Even with a table stand I

Hallo Paula, Are you a member of the Suffolk Lacemakers? If not I recommend
you join them, they have a really nice lace day which we always attend, they
are a friendly bunch and we always have a good day. If you are not and need

When David was ski-ing in Courmayeur, Italy in March he came across
three paintings of lacemakers in the Hotel Cristallo where he was
staying. They were signed Tello but we haven't been able to find
anything about them despite asking Google. You can see them at
And another painting (watercolour) at the Australian War Memorial collection
in Canberra - Sister Claire, you might be interested in this one.

Welcome back!!
I just went there to see if it has changed, and it looks the same. Well done
Webmaster/s and thank you.
However, I went to the Eunice Sein Koon Lace but only got a mostly blank
space. there was a tiny box with a red X, but it did not do anything. Pity,
I was hoping to see some
Apart from the battery, you also need to check that everyone in the house
can hear the smoke alarm. My FIL could hear normal speech, but he couldn't
hear the smoke alarm because the sound was too high pitched and was out of
his hearing range. There are alarms available with a lower pitch. FIL
I'm a bit behind in my digests but I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth about
no knead bread. To make a proper no knead bread you have to start with
instant yeast. This comes under several brand names, Fermipan used to be
one. It's the same sort of yeast used in commercial breads. You can
Compared to lace-making and embroidery, paper-cutting is almost
instant gratification! I can do a fairly complex one in a couple
evenings. I find it rather relaxing.
Please do take pictures of the panels! Would love to see them.

Dear spiders,
Since a couple of you asked, here are a few tips I picked up from my
neighbour and the Web on paper cutting.
There are many different styles of paper-cutting -- modern, Swiss,
German, Polish, Jewish. There's even an American Guild of
Papercutters. Here's a video of Swiss
Oh my those recipes sound good. I was scrolling down and hoping there was a
recipe for traditional cornish pasties...but sigh ALAS...none...
Anyone out there have any GOOD cornish pasties recipes?

If you are able to read this, Comcast black-listed my account last week (and
also a non-lacemaking friend). I had to phone them and they changed the
settings to allow me to receive messages again. I suspect it is all part of
their latest upgrade :(

Hi Liz,
I am not sure I have ever heard of a Beds Clanger so I checked online and
found the following two recipes. Was your Clanger boiled or baked and are
either of these recipes anywhere close to what you remember?
Baked
This kind of work is usually called paper sculpting. Although cutting
is involved, the 3-dimensional effects require molding, etc.
Traditional paper-cutting is 2-dimensional and flat.

In my home town the fire brigade will visit your home (if you are over a
certain age) and free of charge fit battery free smoke alarms anywhere in
the house that they feel you need them.

Hello Janice and everyone
You can use a tablespoon of lemon juice instead of the crushed vit. c.

Hi,
I use an old Bible stand that used to be my husbands Grandmothers, just cut
down the bottom some and it works perfectly. It also has the tilt that I
like when I work on my lace.
Just my two cents. Hugs, Lynn From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To:
