Hi Jean
When knitting you can use very thin yarn with (relatively) thick needles to get
a lacier look or thick yarn with (relatively) thin needles to get a dense
texture but when crocheting you do need to match the yarn to the hook size - it
should sit comfortably in the hook without excess
Perhaps an overly simplistic approach, and my memory may have slid, but I
thought there was a reference to Corticelli Buttonhole Twist?
My rough guess
(without getting out my supply) would be that it is very roughly comparable to
#8 perle cotton, or perhaps #12? Of course perle cotton would not

Pretty fine, and appears to be like the silk threads that YLI, etc. make...
Belding Corticelli Buttonhole Twist that I have on hand is much thicker than

Hi All
I've just updated the Poole Bobbin Lace Circle website with the photos
from their annual competition. There was some lovely work this year

good enough condition to use. If it breaks as easily as 2 strands of stranded

Hi Jean

I just was searching for something else, and ran across the tab I had started
searching on. Though I don't have time to look much, I thought you might
enjoy this article and find it informative, as it has a visual and commentary
with comparisons on Silk Purse Twist:
There is a Miser Bag in knitting, at the back of Tina, the Little
Lacemaker published by the Rocky Mt. Lace Guild in time for the 2005 IOLI
convention.
