My printer or rather Microsoft Photo editor works that way too. Scan the pattern first and save it and take it up in your photo program.Just use the tranparancy tool and you get a white backgruond. I don´t have a bobbin tree :-( but when I wind a lot of bobbins I put them in the crocheted band I have made to keep them still on the pillow if I move it.
