There is no sign of the Practical Skills book, so it does look as though it
is out of print, though there are copies in some bookshops.

Dear Viv,
my copy of Lace arrived this morning (Friday) - so fingers crossed that it
arrives on your doorstep too.
Having had a good glance through it before breakfast, I am looking forward
to a good read. There seems to be at least two Arachne members
contributing: Ruth Budge and Jane Partridg

Dear Jean,
I would prefer correct size patterns. For those of us without easy access
to a good copy shop, this means that we don't have to find somewhere which
can enlarge A4 onto A3 paper and make costly errors getting the size
correct. Not to mention, the time and petrol to get to the other si

Just to say I have had a very fast response from Sue Babbs.

I remember some time ago, someone mentioned they had a translation for Ulrik

I've just bought a copy, and my German is not sufficient to pick out more

One of my favourite presents this Christmas is a photographer's loup (my
husband wanted his back in his darkroom). They are actually magnifying
devices designed to look in detail at photos, and examine grain etc. The
lenses are therefore very good quality, and are apparently available in a

Just to let you know, that after Jean responded to my message that she had

Has anyone had any success submitting answers to the Lace Guild's advent

Dear Merlene
You were asking if the heart pattern on the Lace Guild Advent Calendar was a
published pattern. Whilst not the complete pattern - it is part of one,
which I discovered whilst browsing through my lace books.
I am willing to let you know the name of the book, once the competition is

Dear Anita,
There is a version of the Waterlily pattern in A Visual Introduction to

The book is still in print. I currently have a library copy, but have

AOL routinely refuses to accept emails from ISPs who have certain types of

Dear all,
What I will add to this, is that when a young lace maker appears at a lace
fair, the suppliers are very supportive. Other lace makers are very
supportive too in a practical way. Thankyou to everyone who helps such

I wish to purchase a copy of Suzanne Thompson's Further Steps in Honiton

I've managed to borrow a copy from my local library (and have had it out on
loan since March!), which I am working through. I find the diagrams etc
