Dear Phil,
Thank you for the suggestion of Vicky Taylor. I was unaware of her work,
but it is quite interesting. I am familiar with the Love Lace competition
and have the catalog which I am using for a reference. As you say, it has
the broadest interpretation of lace in it. While Love Lace was a
Thank you Phil--I appreciate the link to some terrific contemporaneous lace

in the article that I mentioned earlier. Which brings to mind--the lace
teahouse project. Perhaps someone else has the details as I've

Did you know about the "Love Lace" competition and exhibition which was held in
Sydney, New South Wales 2011/2013. Some wonderful things here, and the broadest

Dear Susan,
Thanks. This is very helpful.

I like Agnes Herczeg's work, too.

I too, along with other lacemakers, have been rather too busy to join this
somewhat ridiculous discussion. Invited to the IOLI Convention in
Indianapolis, I've been teaching some of the techniques that allow for
ideas to be expressed in bobbin lace in a painterly manner.
Is this Art? Dear me,
I would definitely include Agnes Herczeg of Hungary in a show like this. Â I
own one of her pieces, and it is beautiful!
Her pieces are a genius mix of needle lace and bobbin lace. Â Check out her
gallery.
Her site is www.agnesherczeg.com
Saving up to buy another piece.
Enjoy!

Devon,
that’s difficult to answer. What is it keeping our eyes and being overwhelm
from what we see? In my opinion it’s something perfectly personal.
Therefor I can’t say what I would advise to work. To make lace works
acceptable for public is to try again and again and to explain why you did

As far as what I would consider art in the lace world, h, I'd say
likely some of the things done by the well known lace people, like
Ulrike Lohr/Voelcker, Kortelahti, etc. Pieces that either depict scenes
(ie framed and hung on the wall), or that are things in and of
themselves
I guess I should be clearer about my motives for asking these questions. I
am trying to put together a proposal for an art show in an art museum that
will consist of pieces of contemporary fiber art made with bobbin lace and
needle lace technique. The idea is to present works that show

Heres an amazing artwork that isnt lace (though it could be
replicated in lace?). It is from an exhibition in Michigan and this
was the winning entry in a competition.
I'm here on the sidelines, cheering you on! (-:

Hi everyone,
Hereâs an amazing artwork that isnât lace (though it could be replicated in
lace?). It is from an exhibition in Michigan and this was the winning entry in
a competition.
Hello All! Mary Corbet's site (www.needlenthread.com) posted a link to
Dorotheum a portrait with some very lovely lace. The collar is pretty but
the striped skirt (strips of fabric strips of reticella???) is divine.
Yowza! Sincerely, Susan Hottle, Erie, PA USA
