Can anyone explain who/what Springetts and Fountains are? I was told that
Fountains used to be called Springetts, and I notice they still sell kits
labelled Springetts. Yet the leaflets for Havant and the NEC list "C & D
Springett", not Fountains. I assume this is Christine and David Springett w
Springetts are the most marvelous people in the world. For many years they
ran the British College of Lace, in Rugby; and they made the most beautiful
bobbins. Christine's specialty is Beds lace, and there are some excellent
videos by her, for beginner, intermediate and advanced Beds lacemakers. Sh
Christine and David Springett used to own the whole business, which included
making and selling bobbins,kits of small projects like cards and Christmas
decorations, Christine's patterns and books, teaching videos, as well as
running the British College of Lace (think I've got the title right). Af
Hi all. Linda Fountain bought out the Springetts business and the right to
sell their books and video's. Christine and David still, though, have the right
to also sell the books and video's. As for the labels on some of the kits.
Linda inherited such a lot that she thought she would use them up
The Springetts are, indeed, wonderful people! I've never gotten to meet
them personally but have had many phone conversations with them in the past.
I was very sorry to find out that they were no longer involved with the lace
supplies business. Does anyone have current contact information for the
Christine and David Springett used to have a lace supplier business. She
also designed patterns and taught, and he also turned bobbins. They ran a
lace school (English Lace College, or something like that) and made videos,
too.

Hi Robin and All,
sadly when Christine and David were wanting to sell their business, no
one was willing to 'buy' the English Lace College so it no longer
exists. No more lovely weekends making lace with other pupils with the
best teachers available in a delightful atmosphere of work and fun.
