Linux box similarly to their instructions for configuring Windoze boxes.

Yes you can, it is based on my experience to make a
directory /usr/share/terminfo/x/ and copy the xterm file
from another distro into it when my iptraf output get an
error message like: Error opening terminal: xterm
After i copied the file, it run normaly
