I also noticed that the latest.lrp (shorewall 1.3.6) has a changed entry in
shorewall.config that could cause problems,
STATEDIR=/tmp/shorewall
this should probably be
STATEDIR=/var/lib/shorewall as it was before. (Tom are I makeing a
mistake here ? )

First of all: Thanks for the excellent job done by the LRP/Bering team
and by Tom Eastep with his shorewall.
I had no problems updating bering1.0_rc3 using shorewall-1.3.5.lrp
downloaded from the leaf.sourceforge.net site.
In short:
(1) I used bering1.0_rc3
(2) I did all as described in

I cut an pasted them in a Hypertem window where I used edit to modify
the Bering/Shorewall files to make them match the examples. When I tried
to back up the Shorewall package I get:

I believe the error was something about Shorewall function not found.
essentially it appeared that shorewall fails to start. Then I go through
the
shorewall config options as prescribed in the bering user guide. When I
try to back up the shorewall package I get an error about the
hi kory, after adding the new shorewall but before
doing conifg do what is stated here
