Tom, I understand your position and I appreciate your assistance greatly. I can't say if it is a Shorewall or Bering issue but when I tried your suggestions using the 1.3.3 Shorewall distro, it worked so smoothly I had to retry the 1.3.6 version just to be sure it wasn't me. The result is that Shorwall.lrp 1.3.6 will not work on Bering as it is. I searched the mail archives and saw where another user had the same issue some time back. There was speculation but I saw no solution in the thread. I am quite happy with 1.3.3 since I can now use the Dynamic Blacklisting to control my kids late night surfing. Does the later version offer anything that I should have such as improved security?
