John, I believe the error was something about Shorewall function not found. essentially it appeared that shorewall fails to start. Then I go through the shorewall config options as prescribed in the bering user guide. When I try to back up the shorewall package I get an error about the Shorewall function. I was hoping someone else had seen this but I will run through it again tomorrow evening and try to capture some screen dumps to report the actual errors.
