tcpdump depends on libpcap. Install both packages

if you have shorewall running you might have to open the firewall for FTP

Hello Andrey,
That shouldn't be any problem. You can use the vsftpd.lrp package, which
is a small, secure and fast ftp daemon (tftpd.lrp contains a Tftp daemon,
which is something different). Configuration details can be found at the

Thx you Jaap.
I will try your lrp package :)
You can send me the statically compiled binaries if that doesn't
disturb you ;-) It can be usefull for later.

If not, is there a development planned for this type of service ?

I am attempting to use an ftp server behind dach leaf. I am running

Ok, on the leaf I set up port forwarding for port 2048 to go to

I log on the server using passive mode '-p' from an internal machine no

Subject: [leaf-user] FTP server behind dachstein
I've got a FTP server running on my internal network on port 21.
I'm trying to port forward it trough my dachstein firewall.
My internet provider has blocked the ports under 1024, so i opened port 3122
like this:
EXTERN_TCP_PORTS="0/0_3123 0/0_3122" (3123 is for my webserver, wich is
working)

You can look at links on how to set up passive FTP server behind firewall on
http://c0wz.steinkuehler.net/.
Basically you need to do the setup on both router and FTP server.
- On the router you port-forwarding port 20, 21 and a some additional ports (e.g.
65520-65529 as in the email suggested)

Hey All,
I'm running an FTP server behind my Dachstein 1.01 router, and rather than
have hundreds of scanners hitting my FTP server on port 21 and try and hack
an account I'd like to move it to a different and much higher port number
(above 1024 if possible). I've checked on google but not
