stats are stats and looking at those they mean nothing. For instance they
don't include his shot that went over the stand in the first half.
I'd prefer to go with what I saw and overall I thought Philips did ok with a
definite improvement in the second half with one or two really good passes.
I’m definitely a snowflake and I hug trees and don’t wash regularly, but when
deciding on things I prefer facts to opinions, which of course you are entitled
to have and express on an open forum. Of course you don’t like facts and stats

Normally ie non football I am a 'stats man' all the way
Football is more difficult - I was very critical of klich in his first two
games then read a stat that he had created more chances than anyone else in the
whole division in the first 2 games of the season
Am I totally wrong then? Maybe or
I think you have quoted a classic case there Dave. Klich. If you are on
Twitter you will have seen post and analysis showing that he made more passes,
created more chances than anyone else. However, we both know that he has
struggled in the first two matches. Hopefully his goal will improve thi

Very professional approach last I think. This is the type of Cup game that
was made for us to lose. Sutton, Newport and Histon etc especially with Man
U connection. I thought at one stage with our usual lion's share of
possession that we might, yet again, fail to make it count, but I was wrong.

They also had every man behind the ball around the 18 yard box. That is not
easy to break down.

Most of the game Phillips sat in midfield with noone anywhere near him. During
the game I told the boy I could sit there and do that too and give the ball
away less (some hyperbole there of course). With Rich a bit here, stats do not
tell everything. 100 short passes looks great and is not nece

I recommend you watch again Richard and actually look for the passes he gave
away. They were problematic.
Phillips has come on leaps and bounds but he does have issues.

True.
Thought the off the ball movement from Costa and Eddie was excellent for the
first goal, as was shack’s pass.
This is going to be an obstacle for us to overcome in most games. Teams will
sit deep, pack the box and try to hit us on the break.
I thought Phillips had a decent game, Alioski l
If you don't try difficult things and occasionally fail (16%) then what's the
point. Perhaps some of the 16% did cause problems but that's what the other 10
players are for and Bielsa isn't going to criticise him for that.

I think it’s a fair point. You’d think that Forshaw’s passing stats would look
quite good because all he ever does is pass slowly sideways and backwards.
Sometimes he even manages to mess that up though. I imagine if Kalvin is
attempting risky long range passes it’s because Bielsa has told him t
Teams have figured out (ever since last April) that the way to counter
Bielsaball is to literally put your whole team into your own box. We need
to really work on our long range shooting, as indeed Phillips seems to be
doing already. Last year I seem to recall that he did try a few longshots

oh yeah, the boy can pass - of that there is no doubt. He just didn't pass
that well in the first half last night. That's all , end of subject. We all
love him and he'll get even better this season and hopefully improve from
averageness to greatness.

He gets caught out fairly frequently though. He as dragged off a couple of
times last season when up against pacey midfielders - Brentford being the
obvious one.

I never said he is average, what he is not is beyond any type of criticism or
