22/3/2014 - Been quite busy trying to catch up with things around the house,
car maintenance, appointment for myself and being at the hospital. I will
be returning to work on the 1st of April on a graduated scale so I can still
attend to steve in the afternoons and evenings. He is doing better.
Out of bed for the first time in 34 days! Took a hoist to get him there but
it was "well worth the trip". He was very tired when he go back into bed
after sitting there for 40 minutes! Limbs are still not up to scratch but
they will get there! We figure is has lost a good two stone on top of the

15/32014 Update it was a month yesterday that our world was turned
upside down. Today. as of this morning. when I got in:
Not on oxygen support, no IV plugged into body anywhere, No feeding tube to
the stomach, no drips anywhere. Still has catheter. Weekend doctor came in
this morning and
12/3/2014 - Hard to believe it is the 12th of March already. Has been a
busy few days for me. I spent the 10th of March pitching a royal bitch as I
had been receiving information (the nurses cannot tell you anything and it
has to come from the doctors) that didn't make any sense. Suddenly,

9/3/2014 - Steve continues to have problems with the sodium in his blood and
because of the glucose drip (to reduce the sodium in his blood) and liquid
food he is getting, his blood sugars continue in the mid to high 20's. They
tried to tell me that the two strawberries I chopped up and put in his

of days. I needed to recharge my batteries and was dealing with Steve and
his panic attacks so have been staying nights at the hospital. He slept

Just dashed home to see to cat. Has urinary infection that is resistant to
all antibiotics but one. Still fighting mild fever and extremely tired. CT
scan showed no infection in lungs, stomach or kidneys. White blood count
still coming down. Salt in blood was coming down. Haven't had test results

2/3/2014 - I am writing to tell you that I will not be available for updates
for the next couple of days. I do not have facebook or other email
capabilities on my phone and there is no wifi available at the hospital.
Please keep texts to a minimum. I will advise when possible and through

Update 1/3/2014 Called during the night (last night). He was restless
and jittery. Apparently doctors came to examine him during the night. I
got there at noon today and he was dis-oriented and seemed a bit rattled.
He know who I was and immediately asked for some milk. His fever was quite
29/2/14 - 1/3/14 - Steve has had a set back. I arrived at the hospital at
noon yesterday and he was exceedingly not well. One of his doctors arrived
just as I did and examined him, then shortly another doctor came to look at
him and then another. The told me he had a temperature that continued to
27/2/2014 - 10pm - Not a very good day today. Still running high fevers.
Doctor took IV line out of artery in neck as thought that may be the reason
for it. They were talking about the possibility of putting others back in.
They continue to do loads of blood tests. His kidneys have moved in to

26/2//2014 Update Got home late last night. Steve is being moved to a
ward. Not because he has gotten better, but because the longer he stays in
ICU/High Dependency Unit the more chance he has of catching another
infection from new patients coming in. I had to leave before the move was
done,

25/2/2014 - 8am - They took the vent tube out sometime between 6am and noon
on the 24th. I got in there at 2pm and he was awake. He knew me but talking
was almost impossible due to the oxygen mask and the condition of his mouth
and throat. I got the jist of what he was
