Correction, max tilt on the bed with the gears engaged is 1º. This is looking
at the specs on Legacy's site.

Regarding the chuck issue. Does the manual illustrate or mention using a 1"
shaft collar to tighten the chuck against? This spaces the chuck further away
from the headstock and provides a mount that is truer than screwing the chuck
to the end of the threads on the spindle.

There is a product here called oneshot which is suppose to have some parts
of dyna-glide in it and that is what i use now but it is not as good as what
every one says dyna-glide does.
But it is very hard to compare without dyna to compare it too

Hi Roger,
Thanx to you (and Andy) that worked. although it still turns pretty hard
once I tighten the gear train back up. If I just let it sit in my hand it
turns with ease, if I just barely tighten the screw it turns OK, and then
it slips out of the gear, if I tighten it just enough to hold i
Bill sure shot use to sell a bottle of there stuff,(it has dyna-glide in it.)

Also keep in mind the maximum tilt with the gears engaged is probably around
2-1/2º. Much more than that and the gears will bind. If the Evo is like the
other machines, the bed will tilt much farther than what the gears will allow.

Hi Dan
To adjust the taper on your Evolution you have to loosen the gear train, set
your taper and then re-engage the gear train. It works the same as a Model 900,
1200, 1800 etc.
How do I know, well I just called Andy who is driving from Hartford to West
Springfield to get ready for tomorrows
Ok i just put a small washer on the thread in front of the washer that is
there on the index gear nut ,a washer smaller in dia than the rectangle hole
in the gear this let the nut tighten but left the index gear a little loose
giving it hopefully the movement you need
to lift the bed for tapering
opps Sorry my mistake( as Tracy lifts the bed)

gears do seem to move as well suggesting it should
Work. I know this is not much help, but looking closely at the gears in the
