I still find it hard to differentiate between the ecclesiastical parishes
and civil parishes (local government) for recording locations. You get
different pieces of information that relate to each separately.
- baptisms, church marriages and burials will refer to the ecclesiastical
parish
- birth,
Looking for opinions/comments on Legacy Charting Companion. It's been a while
since
I tried the early version and can't recall how it 'rates' in terms of ease of
use, and
flexibility in terms of charts. For example, can you add freeform
notes/pictures to
charts?

John, if you select the geo location icon for the normal address, you will
see two entries: Core and Core+. Default for Core is a shortened form of the
location using abbreviations. When you want to enter townships, etc., enter
the full location including them in the Core+ (default). In Core,

Hi John
In VIEW -- MASTER LISTS -- LOCATION click on the Location you want to
shorten. Just below the Location box there is an option to add a Short
Location Name.
To use this Short Location Name on screen go to OPTIONS -- CUSTOMISE and
select the VIEW tab. On the left near the bottom of
When I create Pedigree web pages, I have found that the index page
contains the name of the starting person added to the end of the home
page title.
Is this a problem that I just never noticed before or is it just from
the 6.0.0.101 build?

Diane,
I have numerous areas where a relative lived in a rural area in a township.
I always state it as you did below; i.e., Fairfield Township, Fayette
County, Iowa. By the way I was raised in Fayette County! Stating it in
this fashion leaves no doubt as to what specifically is meant. I
You are quite right. I have never noticed that before and it is also double
entered into the title. Actually whenever I change that page I do it by hand
so I haven't got a clue as to when it got double vision.

A slight clarification it occurs in both the heading and the title.

Legacy will remove one or more leading commas and two or more leading commas
when printing reports.
But what do you do if the county is missing? For example western Canada
never used the county system, so Vancouver reads:
Vancouver, , British Columbia, Canada
Is there any way to remove
Many thanks to the replies about my parish problem! Sometimes I think I am
so worried about following the Legacy rules, that I make things much tougher
than they need to be.
Thanks!

John,
Within the city of Woburn, Massachusetts, USA there are several areas,
like Cummingsville. So if I wanted to specify that, in the way you
are asking, I could do one of two things. In the location box, I could
write: Woburn (Cummingsville), Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA and

G'day Martin,
I currently use Legacy Charting Companion and Family Tree Super Tools. From
memory, I think I paid about $US30.00 for each. I also had formerly
Generations but could not get it to work with WinXP. I think Generations
also had problems with trying to print to a single sheet
Rob, that is my experience. Embedded empty commas remain. Like you
mentioned, I use the short locations to remove them.

But what do you do
I have something that is really bugging me, and I can't figure out how to
delete this. I am talking about accidentally adding an address to lets say
the burial field. I type in the location and then want to add the cemetery
name. I use the little plus sign to add the information from my

I hsvr just deleted a cemetery record from an individual
by clicking on Delete after getting the plus sign. It did not remove the
address from anyone else.
If in doubt, I suggest a "Backup Family File..." even to
another file on your hard drive before testing. You will always have
