I imported my GedCom from Family Tree Maker, and then wanted to
experiment with a small ancestor book, using the RFT format. I only did
about 4 generations, rather than the full 15, but have noticed that the
text is a little 'off' - words that should be whole are appearing with a

Thanks so much Dave - I deleted the original file and re-imported from
FTM, using the customize button and when I looked at the ancestor report
generated in RTF the words all were fine.
I am so glad I found this group, as everybody has been so helpful.

I am trying to customize the Family View page and I see how to do it (which
items you want displayed under the person's name such as their birth date,
death date, burial date etc)

I think you are hovering over the box that shows "ancestor color coding" if
you choose to use that option. Since you have done what Ron suggested, the
next step would be to go to options->customize->view->ancestor color coding.
