Gwen,
It may not answer your problem but have you looked at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/238401 ?
Googling error 3343 (no quotes) also gives other information relating to this
error.

Basically I'm trying to find all those in my file with a particular
surname, with death date after 1904 or before 1955 - not a problem so
far - I then want to search this list for those individuals with death
place containing Utah [still no problem] - then comes my stumbling
block I want to search
Jan,
I haven't tried this, but I think when you get that final list of
people with the death in Utah and between dates, I would tag them with
a unique tag number. Then I would run an Event report. Go to REports -
Books/Others - Event Report. You can select only this event, so
select Death
I would also find it useful to be able to search for blank events, which I
think is what Jan is really asking. There was a way to do it in Family Tree
Maker, but I can't find out how to do this in Legacy.

Jan,
Are you using Sources? If so, then go to Master Sources, locate the death
certificate sources, for each one (or at least those from Utah, depending on
how
you have them organized) use Show List and then Tag those records [whatever
tag # you want].
Then add that tag to your

Does anyone know how I could make a copy of a PDF file which would

I have a number of PDF files which are several megabits in size. That uses a

If you have the full version of Acrobat 7 it has an optimization
function with various settings that can be used to flatten a file
and get rid of redundant content.
Sometime simply saving a file with a new file name can reduce the size.

Mike,
If you have a full version Adobe Acrobat (not just the free reader), open
the PDF you wish to reduce, then select Document, then Reduce File Size and
follow the instructions. I just did on a Legacy created 10m PDF and after
the Reduce function it is know 376k.
One miner catch is apparently
PDF files are created with adequate resolution for printing (300dpi or higher)

I'm not exactly sure what your problem might be. Page numbers are inserted
into a footer (or header) either by section or from this point forward or
whatever it says. If you have your book divided into sections - meaning
Microsoft sections, not chapters - the page numbers have to be reinserted.
Wendy,
My guess was that the report (book) was created in Legacy and then edited using
MS Word. As I use Open Office for that purpose I was unable to advise.

Hi Sharon,
I don't think there is an easy way.
I think the only way would be to tag each line (tag descendants only
of your furtherest ancestors in each line) and then view that tagged
list in the Name List (Search - Show all tagged x OR a normal search
for those tagged x)

Currently you can't in Reports though I think you can on web pages.
This ability to have true footnotes rather than just endnotes is one
of the things mentioned as coming in Legacy 7 by those who attended a

First, do the search for Surname, date range, Utah. Tag
everyone. Using the search list as is, have the
Events-Name of Source-Details set to Source. Scroll
the list, removing the tag for those with the Death
field showing something. This is easier than searching
for blanks with the search tool.
When the word removed appears it just means there's a difference in
