I wouldn't recommend Vista to my worst enemy -- okay, maybe my *arch*
enemy, but no one else. My printer doesn't work like it's supposed to --
after six months I'm still trying to get a handle on that. My son's MP3
player that we got him just a few months before we bought this computer

Ah Cathy - I have had Vista for nearly 12 months and have had NO
problems at all with Legacy and/or any other program. Initially I had
one or two programs that would not work, but an email to the program
producers soon fixed that as they sent me a 'driver' that fixed them
up - programs that is.
Hi Mary,
See: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpWindowsVista.asp
but I'm still quite happy to steer clear of Vista. I understand that
Microsoft is bringing forward the release of its next operating
system. Perhaps that says something about Vista.

However, if something strange is happening regularly, I don't think
it is wise to use a work around or to continue to just close down the

No problems at all - but download a fresh programme from the web rather than
copying your old one, then restore your backup.
I am thinking of getting a new computer and I am wondering how Legacy works
with Windows Vista. I remember a while back some people were having trouble
with it, but perhaps the bugs are ironed out of it now.
Thanks,

Cathy,
When I regularly suffered from this problem I did a thorough check of my system
many times and never found any viruses ( I have always checked for these
overnight, every night, anyhow). Nor was there any significant malware on my PC
either.
At the time I only had 256MB of RAM which led
If I were getting blank screens like this, I'd be checking out my
computer security and doing a series of scans for malware of various
types, remembering that one of the things that malware that gets
through your defences does is to disable some or all of your security programs.
My instinct is
Agreed, that is why I specified "Windows" problems and not that Legacy problem.

Gary,
I agree with your comments regarding the possibility of heat build-up or a
defective RAM (or even worse the motherboard) being the cause of the probelms
Rhonda is having, but it is not the cause of the blank screen problem.

You might want to run your computer through the paces at www.pcpitstop.com.
Last time I was there you could still do all the tests without registering,
you just cannot save your results for future comparison.
For those who are getting random crashes of Windows itself (like when you

I too have followed this with interest as I have been having a stack of
problems with Legacy since the last update actually.
