Cathy,

When I regularly suffered from this problem I did a thorough check of my system
many times and never found any viruses ( I have always checked for these
overnight, every night, anyhow). Nor was there any significant malware on my PC
either.

At the time I only had 256MB of RAM which led me to suspect that it was a
memory problem even though I seemed to have a reasonable amount available. It
also occurred to me that it may have been insufficient Page File, if so there
wasn't much I could do about it.

I stopped parking Legacy on the Task Bar and shut it down when not in use and
this certainly helped matters. I have a much bigger system now and have no
problems - but I still shut it down when not in use.
