Eric...include all sources...What I do for the so called obscure is place the
source information in the notes of the event...I also include the wrong data I
have found and explain why it is wrong or why I think it is wrong so others who
read your data understand when they run across this
Eileen you want to write notes on the adoptions... us the event screen and
click on adoption and write all you want to explain the adoption and name
changes... Richard

Let me put in my 2 cents worth As I advise in my classthere is a way to
gedcom the data in ...but I myself am doing it manually... now I have 18,000
names to move from FTM to Legacy and it will take me a year to finish this move
but it is well worth it because I have in FTM some very
I have had to bite the bullet... with 17,000 names because the clean up takes
me longer than the manual entry... set FTM beside the legacy and just type
away... at same time find things need to further work on that person also
because I started many years ago with FTM and didn't at first put
Let me give you all a way to list the source...using Rootsweb as an example and
using their sub topic metasearch for say henry pedersen..and you found
some data
use the following
Rootsweb Meta Search (On line: The Generations Network, Inc, 2005),
Source info... if gotten from Ancestry that is you source... it is a
database name the source, name the owner of the site, URL, date last
verified by the site. While the source isn't the real document it still is
your source means you then need to go to their source yourself
even in the USA the software is only set up for generic our country is
divided up by ward, city, county, state and if it is rural it is section,
township, county, state ... you just have to put comma in so your report
looks just fine then even cemeteries had sections in them to

Go to the person's edit screen. On the edit
AH..but in 1900 the date of the census is 1 June 1900 and the census in 1910 is
the 15 April 1910 and 1920 is 1 January 1920 and 1930 is 1 April 1930 therefore
the date is important because if they moved one month later you now would have
a different event date. Maybe in a high percentage of

The sourcing part of the program is spasmodic, lacking continuity, intermittent
in that it doesn't stay with the source your are working on at all times but
jumps back to a previous source. and the best word to use is spasmodic because
it is not doing it all the time. Richard Subject: RE:
Good question mine is SPASTIC - sometimes it goes back to the same source
for long time and other times it jumps to anotherIt happens after I have
changed to a different source and seems to like to remember the previous source

This discusion about putting in the region is interesting but folks remember it
may look like repetition but here in USA we have cities that have grown to be
in more than one township so you need to be sure you are placing the locations
in the correct township as well as the city. Thanks

Reading with interest the problems people have with the software...but what I
have done is use the software so entered but have created 2 encyclopedia in
Word by surname and position in the family to handle items that do not fit
into the software program well, thereby when issuing a report
