José,
We haven't been getting an reports of problems unique to 64-bit Vista.
A faster system with more RAM will process the utilities in Legacy quicker
although I don't know how much quicker g
My first computer had 4 MB or RAM and I thought that was a lot!
Thanks for using Legacy.

Hi, Jose
I'm running Legacy 7 on a 64 bit Vista system. I have 4 gb ram a dual core
processor. However, i only have a little over 11,000 people in my file, so
your results may vary!
I'm running Vista home premium. Lost my ability to fax, but otherwise I've
really had no problems with Vista,
No problems at all. I actually used Vista from it's release with few
problem's. Most peoples issues are with drivers for existing equipment,
however if your buying a new PC with Vista already installed on it, you
shoudln't have any of these problems.

I have Vista Home Basic installed on my laptop, and, although I'm
fairly happy, iVista will not run the earlier set of Training CDs.
The later issue of Training CDs run perfectly.
The problem has been discussed with Sherry, and has now been referred
to the programming staff.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba laptop. When I got it, it
ran slow which I thought was strange for a new PC. I uninstalled most of
the junk programs that came with it and cleaned up the registry. That
helped improve the speed some.
After a couple of days, I got used to Vista and
Mary, I have had no trouble with Legacy on Vista - I have been using it
since last June.

Hi Mary,
No problems with Vista and Legacy here. Outside of the initial setup and nag
screens, it shows it is a solid OS. And as others have answered, the
programs that did have a problem running at the beginning, their programmers
found a fix and it all works great.

Hi Mary,
See: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpWindowsVista.asp
but I'm still quite happy to steer clear of Vista. I understand that
Microsoft is bringing forward the release of its next operating
system. Perhaps that says something about Vista.

Ah Cathy - I have had Vista for nearly 12 months and have had NO

I wouldn't recommend Vista to my worst enemy -- okay, maybe my *arch*

after six months I'm still trying to get a handle on that. My son's MP3

Ron,
The rule of thumb with software minimum requirements is to double everything
they say for optimum use. Therefore, doubling the 1GB for full use would
result in the 2GB quoted. As for the 20GB of free disk space: The more
space you can give it the better off you are.

Ron,.
It looks like it comes straight from Joe Edmon's article which is
referenced in the news story. You should probably ask where Joe got
that (but I don't see a way to contact him).

Vista will require a lot more umpf from your computer - 2 GB of memory, 20 GB
of free hard disk space, and a DVD drive. If you decide to upgrade to Vista, you will
first need to see if your computer has what it takes to run it. (unquote)
There is also the other issue. Will your peripherals, i.e., printers,
scanners, modums, FAXes, etc., run on Vista? I, for one, will be very, very
cautious before jumping on the Vista wagon. And I won't even mention the
software
issues...sigh.

Yes. When I killed my Windows 98 computer, saving
backup. I found out after that my 3 printers, 1
scanner would not work with my new XP, without a lot
of finagling. They are long gone. But I will be
waiting a long time to see how it all falls through.

I have Windows Vista installed on my PC and I reported to the group several

testing of it. Like many thing's with pc's, the requirements
