Jamie, what you said to Mike is exactly what I was talking about. I've been
using Legacy for some time, but it doesn't sound as if they will be taking that
road. Even though I really like Legacy, I would consider switching if others
offered that flexibility and Legacy didn't. Thanks for putting
I don't know of any genealogy programs that are stored on a server.
Those who offer web space, such as Ancestry and other "tree" pages,
have definite problems, mainly the lack of flexibility you get with
desktop programs. Searches, reports, sorts, etc are quite limited.
And when you decide
No, I was not aware of it, but I am glad to hear it is possible.

Mike,
It could be more like Microsoft Office products, where you subscribe to
the software, such as Word, and you can save your documents in your
OneDrive account or on your computer or another cloud storage, such as
Dropbox. With the OneDrive (a cloud storage space), you can access
documents
Thanks Sherry. I have a chromebook, an android phone, and a desktop PC. There
is another possibility for some people who have something like I have. There is
Chrome Remote Desktop. This will allow you to remotely access your computer,
with Chrome or Android. This works very well, but if someone
You don't need a gedcom to import into RM (only if you want to exclude
notes etc. you have to use gedcom).
Yesterday I imported a legacy gedcom file into RM without problems (about
4 individuals, but it was only a basic gedcom. What format gedcom did
you use?

Is it allowed that Legacy 8 Deluxe Edition which I purchased a couple years
ago be downloaded to a second computer or must I purchase an additional
copy? I can't seem to break into my Legacy account as the password is not
recognized and can't get a response for help with that as my only email
Bill,
Yes you can install the free version Legacy 8 to a second computer and then
use your name and customer number to unlock the deluxe features. You can
download the free version from the following site:

You can find your customer number in
There doesn't seem to be a trial version for Family Bee. You have to pay the
$10 to try it out. Not good in my opinion since there's some complaints about
importing GEDCOMs.

You can store the Family File in the cloud, but the program itself has
to be installed under Windows or a Windows emulator.

Thank you once again. It's possible that I don't really understand how the
cloud could work (or not) with Legacy. Is it not possible to have the program
itself in the cloud, and it could sync with the Windows version of Legacy? If
it is possible, that seems like it would be a great thing for a

One way of doing it is by using Dropbox.
You can keep your Legacy data files in a Dropbox directory. I have done this
I was thinking of getting Families. I had a program like that from that
company on my Palm Pilot back in the Dark Ages. I recall it was useful for
carrying your database and impressing people, not so great for adding info
and transferring it back to your database.
On Google Play the reviews are
I like it. I wouldn't use it for my working database although you can make
changes and then sync back to your main PC easily. I like that it has
s much info. It's not the watered down version of your database like
some are. So much of your data is accessible when you're away from your
PC.
Okay support I didn't much like this when only I could see these

Try this.
I just tried and I think it's worked
when exporting the Gedcom tick to "convert formatting styles to HTML style"
but I haven't uploaded the Gedcom anywhere - just looked at it.

Cheryl,
I guess Families has a learning curve like any program.
There seems to have been a change to the Families Sync program to get
your data to the device OR I've learnt better how to use it as this part
of the process is much easier.
Both of these could cause negative comments on the Play
