I am trying not to panic, but it
seems that all of the data I
entered has disappeared and
I don't have any idea why. I'm
on v 7.5 and have my family
file hooked up with Dropbox.
Before I'm told to go to my
last backup, I'll fess up and
say while I usually back up
daily, I my last
these updates lose settings. Hopefully you
just need to set this as appropriate.

Have you tried searching the whole of your c: drive for any database
files? Just go to Windows Explorer, click on C: drive, and Search for
any *.fdb files. This should point you in the right direction if the
files are still on the computer anywhere.

Use dropbox for a backup
DO NOT OPEN THE FILE IN DROPBOX FOLDER WITH LEGACY…
Always copy the file on your hard drive to Drop box folder to have a backup.
Every morning I copy approx. 1.6 gb of files to dropbox
Then I can copy those backup

No, after you have downloaded it from the Dropbox website:
Make a backup in Legacy so you can get back to where you are now
place a _copy_ of the data where Legacy expects to fin

My file name is LavernCariotaFamily and that is the one I clicked on
originally, but found that my lastest entries were missing. I located that
missing data on the Dropbox website under "Legacy." The link to the good
file (on Dropbox that contains the missing data) is c:\Documents and

As Paul said "you need to ensure that the file is saved under the name you want
and in the directory you want".
What I would do is as follows:
copy the file
"c:\Documents and
Settings\user\localsettings\temporary\InternetFiles\Content.IE5\8AUKKPNP\Lavern%20Cariota%20Family[1].fdb"

keep it simple and just use a file name of
“Cariota”.
