You're not in a mess if you have a number of census events - one for
each relevant census - each with their own source or sources if you've
also used transcriptions and then have seen the actual image.

Your screen shot includes both Basic and SourceWriter style sources
Cindy, the Basic style sources are no longer included in the Sample
file. Have you modified your copy of the sample to have both styles?

I think it probably happened when I was showing someone how to do an
import with duplicates. If I remember correctly, I imported an earlier
version of a sample file so that there would be duplicates. It makes
sense that it would keep both versions of the sources.
I just didn't notice them before

Rearranging the Source Citations (Help file)
You can change the order of the source citation for a specific event by placing
the cursor on the source line you want to move and then clicking the up or down
arrow near the lower left corner of the list.

It only changes the order within an event. Do you have multiple sources for
a specific event?
I just tested it an the sources are moving within an event just fine for me
in that buiild
