Yes - what I had in mind was to use Denemo to create the LilyPond you

There is MusicXML import into Denemo which then generates LilyPond. This
used to be hopelessly broken, but now it always generates the bare bones
of the score (AFAIK). That would give an route not needing command line
expertise.

This very much depends on the sort of music you are working with. Try
typing in the LilyPond syntax for the Vivaldi sonata movement
(https://vimeo.com/62188678) that was generated in 10 mins using Denemo
working straight from an original print and you will be convinced (I

Since introducing this I have had zero enharmonic misspellings in my
transcriptions. But this might not be suitable for some sorts of music,
I confess.
You may need to know about Denemo and Frescobaldi which both allow MIDI
input and generate LilyPond output.

Finally, I know of one other contributor to IMSLP that uses LilyPond,
namely Mario Bolognani. I am not sure that he explicitly mentions
creating a beautiful score, ready for the
printer.

Hi Urs.
I tried to send a reply earlier. I don't know if I succeeded, but the method I
suggested was not good enough anyway. Here's my second attempt at a solution to
your problem:

Hi Urs.
In your example, if you lay the second version out as if the notes had twice
the durations they actually have, then it looks nice:
\version "16.0"
firstVersion =\relative e'' {e2. e4 | g2. cis,4 |}
secondVersion =\scaleDurations #'(2 . 1)\relative e'' {e4~ e16[ fis] e[ fis]
g4. cis,8 |}

In fact I think I see the issue you are grappling with, if the snippet
has a bass
of
music with a lot of blank space at the bottom. So it looks like you have
come to the end of the examples, but if you scroll on down past the
blank space you come to the buttons which lead on to more examples - the
one I was seeking was on the second page.

I have had a little read of that documentation and it seems that \shape
does not use the same data. It seems that to use \shape you would need
to know the default values of the control points, which I guess could
only be gotten with runnin

(*) There is another sort of tweak that I have already implemented in
Denemo where you click on the notehead and it finds the staff center
line by calculation using the inform

(if (eq? line #t) (begin (ly:stencil-add (make-line-stencil 0.05 (car

Thanks to Janek Warchoł on the lilypond-devel-request list for
triggering this solution, and Harm for the brilliant red-dot markers.
