For many years Mass Audubon has recommended removing bird feeders at the end
of February to avoid attracting bears to the food source as they come out of
hibernation.

If you read Linda Macmillan’s post which is below. You would know that the
bear did not get moved to Lincoln by the state. That he had moved 35 miles
in the last week.
Thank you

Hi Lincoln
I have 26 boxes of BinaxNOW COVID tests that are free for the taking. Each
sealed box contains two tests. The tests expire June 7, 2024. They are
leftovers from a contract I had that required daily testing when in office, and
I don’t need them anymore.

In my conversation with the Massachusetts bear biologist, Dave Wadell
(sp?), he said they don't move bears unless the bear is wandering around a
highly developed area, like in this case when the bear was in downtown
Worcester.

As you can see from Linda McMillan's post below, the state did not move the
bear to Lincoln. It moved the bear to some undisclosed location 35 miles
from here. The bear, which has four legs and can run at 25 to 35 miles per
hour, came to Lincoln. It's a nice town :-)

On Wed, May 15,
I am taken aback that the state “moved the bear from Worcester” to Lincoln. Did we consent to that? People are now having to supervise their children playing outside and take down their bird feeders which, at least in our house, are a source of real joy. I think we should call on our Select Board
Our newly arrived resident -that you black bear- is part of the urban/wildlife

We have moved into their turf, and sometimes, they try to reclaim it.
No need to panic, just to learn how to co-exist, as long as the wildlife does
no harm to humans.

them shred a wood shed to get to soiled restaurant kitchen linens. They can
open heavy metal commercial dumpster doors while looking for leftovers. In one
