Thanks everybody for the answers. To give you an idea of the space saved I took all the movies in a file and compacted them. At first the took up over 900 MB of disk space, after the save the space requirement went down to 586 MB. Quite a saving. Enrique

AFAIK postnettext was introduced in director 7. However, who should be able to use getnettext in director 6. You will just need to encode the URL maually. There's an article at DOUG by Andrew White that demonstates this technique. (Pre MU server shockwave chat with FMP and getnettext)

2 - have the results passed back to the server to have it run server side since SW cannot directly affect anything locally, this is probably your best option. SW can definitely interract with ASP, Perl, CGI PHP applications on the server so if the server can start the app that would work.

maybe i'm missing the obvious here, but the program that's running is itself protected, right? only a protected version should actually be running. you don't even need to have the protected version on the same machine. keep the .dir on a machine you know is secure, and run a projector or a .dxr
