People have large md arrays. Its common to do raid on x86 Linux with the
md subsystem and its been stable for a long time. We have to live with
real genuine IDE disks not fault tolerant arrays 8)

What I'm curious about (since
the VM TSM server product has been stabilized),is whether there will be
a LINUX/390 TSM server to use as a base TSM server
for those that want to consolidate NT and UNIX servers on a VM-LINUX 390

IBM keeps a list of products available for Linux for S/390. Development
efforts under way are usually hush-hush, so I doubt that you will find a list
anywhere.
As far as the Tivoli question, there is a client available for Linux for
S/390. There are other alternatives as well, commercial and o
Except that Red Hat has disabled LVM on 7.2, due to problems they perceived
as being serious enough to warrant that. Dave is less interested in rolling

Ships as part of SuSE, and you can bolt it on to Red Hat or do software

Ross,
All the entries I see for those products are listed as "agents." Does that
mean the central management software must run on a platform other than
Linux/390?

Marcy,
This has gotten to be a FAQ, so I just (right now) put up a new page on
linuxvm.org to address it. Take a look at
http://linuxvm.org/Info/HOWTOs/movefs.html for details, and let me know if
you run into any problems with the instructions. I'm always interested in
making them better.

As Adam suggested, LVM would be one approach to aggregating DASD into
acceptably large amounts of space. Adam Cox has pointed out in the past
that RAID0 can do the same thing, but without the dynamic capabilities that

Curious if anyone has tried to apply the NSA's SE-Linux patches to their

If you have, how did it go? What distribution and kernel level did you use?
Did it impact you administration of the Linux system?
