Hello from Gregg C Levine
Funny, I was thinking the same thing.
It happens that I've heard this same line of unreason before. It seems
there are a lot of urban legends, and myths, running rampant out
there.

Give the GuildFTPd server a try. There are versions available for most
popular flavors of Windows and it's freeware.
You can read more about GuildFTPd on it's web site at:

Compiling packages for Linux/390 seems to fall into two groups:
1. The kind you mention
2. The kind that makes you want to kill the developers
Most of the type-1 packages were compiled for Linux/390 long ago. I seem to
run into a lot of type-2 packages as a result.

Short version of the question:
How do do a "hard-reset" to a linux guest from within linux?

IF you're already in CMS, just type profile to rerun the profile exec.
If you're not in CMS and the userid is set up to run CMS (ie has a 191

CMS command will do, or the real share-nothing,take-no-prisoners IPL 190

If B and C can talk to each other, you probably have everything working
inside the box. Do you have a dynamic routing protocol (such as RIP or
OSPF) runnning on B, and are the network routers between B and A
listening to updates from B?
The machines like A need to know that C can be reached via B.
I stuck an "hcp logoff" option in /etc/init.d/halt, to log off the machine after
everything else was done. It works very well, and could easily be adapted to issue
"hcp I cms" instead.

Hi,
It is easy to group CMS and CP into the same box when you are running a
Linux guest. The hcp command will pass CP commands down to the layer
below you. The CP command is sent to the host system as if you had
entered it from the virtual machine console.
When you first LOGON to your virtual m

Doing it my way lets the shutdown process complete, hence letting the
disks be shut down cleanly. If you don't care whether your disks are
clean or not, then not much.

I guess we need a better idea of what you're trying to accomplish. If
it's just reconfiguring the virtual machine with some differences for a
specific userid, then it's not too uncommon to have a standard PROFILE
EXEC that tests for a EXEC and runs it if it exists. Example

I have only comments in the /etc/chandev.conf.
When I boot the linux I receive the messages about eth0,eth1,eth2,eth3, but

Do you know how linux found the other devices ? and what is the file that

What starts them depends on what distribution you're using. You'll need to
tell us that.
If you only want to use device numbers 806-807 for eth0, then put this in
/etc/chandev.conf:
noauto;lcs0,0x0806,0x0807,0,0

The last package that I needed to install Postfix onto a RH v7.2 virtual s390 machine

Here are my notes on how to build the mod_jk.so module for apache and
tomcat. I thought this may be helpful to someone since there was some
talk about Tomcat recently.
Assumes you have apache and tomcat installed already on Redhat 7.2.
